Iron Horse Menu

We've visited the Iron Horse about two years ago and the food was really great we thought that we would stop again. The restaurant is really close to public parking, the beach and stores. There is outside seating we so great on a September day and fun to watch the traffic and walkers that pass by. The service is always great and there is the sweetest older lady that works the reception desk that we just love. With that sad, most people that are reading this want to know what the food is like. Before it was really great, however on this visit it was just ok and I had wished we had gone to a different place to eat. We ordered chicken figures and wings and fries. The fries were really great, however my chicken figures had hair in the breading so I couldn't eat them after seeing that. My husband's wings were ok, but the sauce was so think that by the time to got to the chicken you really didn't want to eat it. Every restaurant has a bad day, so we won't write this place off, however I think next time we will try something new.

We catered a small in restaurant party and the food was terrible, overpriced, and late. As for the decor and bar, its one of the better ones in the area, but I hate to say the food is why I was there and I was very disapointed.

Just left Ironhorse and will never return. Service was terrible. After having been seated by the hostess, the waitress told us we couldnt sit where we were seated because "children were not allowed in the bar area" we seated on the patio....it went all down hill from there. It took 35 mins after ordeing to get our food. Had to ask for refills. Then, 30 mins after asking for the check, finally walked up to the bar to pay (along with three other tables in the section). Note to management, you would have had a higher average ticket if you had more waitresses. The one lady you did have was hustling, but overworked and grumpy because of it. You lost sales and customers today because of bad management.

Great stop to grab a drink. If your into late night live music this is my favorite place to go watch, usually some good cover bands that kill it and some original material. On the other hand, the restaurant has good food but terrible service! Don't expect hospitality at all. The bus girls don't even say hello or tell you that your waiter/waitress will be right with you. You're just kinda left sitting there wondering what's going on?? This has been my experience every time I sit outside but none the less if their service is better inside it should be the same outside!

Nothing special. Just a sports bar with a standard menu. "Steak fries" weren't as good as the hype. Wait staff was very helpful.

what you would expect from a bar playing live music on a friday night.. The music was a little out of touch with the audience. The bartenders looked bored. The other patrons looked hammered. and what was really surprising was all of the security.. They had like 4 or 6 guys for a club that had 15-20 patrons.. Wow.. I would say hire one of the security guys as your DJ and you would at least make a little more money.. Drinks were cheap. It was a place that I would go back to for apps or early drinks. Then I would choose to go some place really fun.

Stop 3 of my brother's bachelor party. Cheap pool, lots of people, it's the premier seenster location in Coeur D Alene! Lots of people, lots of dancing, lots of "Yeah! Woo! WOOOOOOO!" drunk or soon-to-be drunk college-aged peeps. Also, I do believe I heard every single song by one recently deceased Mike Johnson (I believe that was the artist's name, I may be wrong) played here the night we came. Plus it's got a lengthy history. It's been in this spot for about 35+ years. I'd definitely go back.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday. The food was awful: flavorless, served cold, and way too expensive for the quality. Also the service was slow even though the lunch time rush was over (I think we waited over 30 min for the waitress to take our order and I had to go find her to get our bill so we could leave). Very dark inside. Maybe the night life/alcohol is better but I don't plan to eat here again, ever.

Coeur D Alene, Idaho ... went there for breakfast. Typical but good. You can tell this place focuses on the night life and its bar. The eating area is set up like a coffee shop and the bar looks like it is from the wild west ... looks like fun!

Not a bad place in a tourist town to grab a bucket of alcohol (Derailer) and do some people watching from the sidewalk.

probably the coolest looking dive bar in CDA. super hip ambiance, super weird crowd. mix of red necks, tourists, yuppies, and hipsters. I have only had drinks here, but they were strong and average priced. Pretty good for a main tourist strip! waitresses are fast and sweet. irish coffee was not great. Also, i have never seen this place packed. Almost full on St. Paddy's was the busiest I have seen it. outside smoking only.

Worst breakfast I've had since grade school. I was embarassed that we took our friends there. Will never go back.

Went here for drinks two nights. Other than the chilly wind blowing through, it was a great place to drink, visit, people watch, and enjoy a spring evening. The crab dip was to die for,and the drinks were tasty and reasonably priced.

I stopped in for an early diner the other night. The prime rib was tasty yet small. The mashed potatoes on the other hand were oit of this world. The calm chowder also was fantastic! The service was very good as well. I sat on the the patio/sidewalk as many of the area buinesses have them. It was a great place to people watch. The prices were fair. I'll be back

We stopped in on a hot summer day so I could get some shade and some good in my tummy. I was feeling shaky, and just needed something to work off my headache. We were told the kitchen was a bit backed up- a 25 minute wait post order taking. Having been a waitress for 7 years, I figured that's only a couple minutes longer than usual. We ordered quickly. Our waitress was rude. She came to our table and asked if we were ready and said, "I just want to get on with this." that should have been our sign to leave. 20 minutes later, she put food in front of us that we didn't order. I said it wasn't ours. She argued for a second. Passed it off to the table next to us, and then went to check on our food. She brought out my husband's chicken Caesar salad. She said the cook hadn't yet started my meal. Ten minutes later, my meal appears. It was mediocre at best. I'm hoping I don't get sick from it..., but it kind of wouldn't surprise me if I did. Run from this place.

Service was great from when I walked in the door. It was pretty empty for a 1pm New Years Eve. I ordered the fish tacos, my sister order the nachos and my bro in law ordered the French dip. All of us loved our food! All 3 plates were very large too, we definitely didn't go home hungry! Bathrooms were also really clean & unique!

I should have checked the reviews before eating here. The service was very slow just as other reviews stated. The food was also not very good. The pulled pork itself was alright however both pork dishes we had were very dry and needed some moisture in the dishes.

Been enjoying Friday HH at Iron Horse for a year now. Service is spotty but usually not too bad. Prime rib dinner is best for taste and value. Haven't had anything else that I would recommend. Free tacos for HH on Friday are okay, assuming there are any left. Went on Friday at 5:30 and only enough taco meat for 6 tacos. Asked server when more tacos would be up and was informed kitchen was busy with dinner. Bar and restaurant sparsely occupied for Friday but service was crappy! Finally got taco bar replenished just before 7pm. Paid check and didn't look at it closely. Did not get HH pricing on drinks! Definitely watch out for that.

It took an hour and a half to get our breakfast. The owner apparently is cheap and refuses to buy another grill for the cooks. Many tables gave up and walked out angrily. Only plus was our waitress. She was nice.

Food not bad. Too many drunk, smoking rednecks about the place though. Have the hamburger

  • Randall V.

I would stay away at all cost. This is a bar that attempts to serve food. The prime rib could not be chewed nor cut with a steak knife. The rest room smelled of urine and stale beer. I cannot imagine what the kitchen looked like.

  • Stella R.

Pretty much the worst service ever! If you want a drink you will need to go to the bar. The cocktail servers are not intelligent enough to check in with you EVER!

I have to say I was pretty disappointed with this place. I went in for dinner and the menu was pretty limited. Our server was well-meaning but not very competent. After sitting for a few minutes, she came by to awkwardly say hi, then let us know she would be back in a few minutes after she delivered another meal. After 2 of the 3 of us ordered our meals, she remembered to let us know about their specials. I ordered the taco platter with pork tacos. It was supposed to come with beans and rice, but I wasn't informed until my food arrived that they were out of beans. The tacos consisted of large hard taco shells with some lettuce and tomato and a very small amount of meat, with a side of salsa from a jar. From what I could taste of it, the pork was pretty good, but otherwise I felt like I could have gotten the same meal for less than half the price at Taco Bell. One of my friends ordered their prime rib special, which included a pretty good amount of food for a decent price and he enjoyed it. There restaurant itself wasn't full and therefore pretty quiet, but the bar in the back was getting pretty rowdy by the time we left.

I am dry heaving on my way home just thinking about the food we ate here. Absolutely disgusting with horrendous service. The wings we got were partially raw and bloody. The salad had brown lettuce. The bacon on the burger was raw. F this place

  • Dani C.

Two old farts tried to tell me it's a "private lot" like I'm a fucking tourist and then told me I was "going the wrong way" to patronize their establishment. Excuse me? I'll run three laps around the block and then moonwalk into your bar if I feel like it.

Service was a little slow, food was okay. I got the pulled BBQ pork. By the time it got to the table, the bun was soggy and almost fell apart when I picked it up. I ended up taking the bun off and eating it with a fork. Not the best and a little pricey, but a relaxed atmosphere and right in the middle of the waterfront area makes it a convenient stop.

This is an absolutely terrible restaurant! I am obliged to join with my siblings once or twice each year to spend some of my pop's money on a family meal. But DAMN, how I dread coming back to this place! I have tried to point out other very good alternatives...no joy. (I think pop likes the foxy chicks, and memories of his wilder days there) The place is filthy! The service is as bad as it can be. Long waits for drinks, the wrong drinks, overworked and tired shorthanded staff, etc. I ordered some sauteed shrimp. It was not sauteed but steamed. It was cold, and had no taste whatsoever! I never did get my soup...asked twice. The veggies were so bad, it seemed like someone was playing a joke! My sis had to re-order to get her meal after the rest of us were served. I admit...some of us were not unhappy. Perhaps I am being too food-centric (eccentric?). Doesn't everyone prefer good food over the company of their relatives? Next time, I am going to smoke a joint on the drive to CDA, drink beer, order some toast, zone out, and simply be thankful for the reunion. And ogle the pretty girls.

This was the most horrible place I have ever eaten. We were just in town for the weekend and weren't familiar with the best place for breakfast in town. We chose this place because it was just off the main drag. We were told the wait might be 40 minutes for food. We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes before our food came. It was cold, as if it had been sitting in the window for way too long. We finally spoke to the hostess because our waitress was very Inattentive, when we tried to flag her down..she acted like we didn't exist and completely ignored us. The hostess was very snotty and acted put out when we asked if she could get someone to have our beverages refilled.

We ate here about a week and a half ago during our vacation. My daughter wanted wings and this was the only place in walking distance we could take her in. The waitress was very friendly and my husband's drink was tasty, the food however is the reason for the low score. We ordered the wings which were the smallest wings I have ever seen...you could barely get meat off of them. By looking at the menu I feel as though it hasn't changed much since they opened. There is the saying that if it isn't broken don't fix it...buy by the sounds of the reviews maybe they should start changing some things.

This place totally needs a makeover way out dated and dark. The food had no flavor, I had the steak fingers and my boyfriend had the baja tacos, No flavor at all! We also tried the stuffed crab mushrooms, we found shells in the meat and they were covered with jared Alfredo sauce. I would say pass for sure!

Went here today and was extremely disappointed. It took entirely too long to get served and once we were the waitress was not very polite. The food came in an average amount of time and was pretty good. When my burger showed up, I asked the waitress for ketchup....which she made sure to take her time getting. After we ate, the service continued to be sub standard. A different waitress had to get our check...and after she did, she left our credit card on some table....which she thought was funny. I won't be going back, based on the terrible service alone.

Incredibly eclectic bar. I was visiting my cousin who lives in Spokane, WA and he made sure we went out downtown to Coeur D'Alene one night. This was our first stop. The place was packed, packed, packed! All kinds of people hanging out here. Looked like college kids, old people dancing, scruffy looking old dudes, and middle aged people of all sorts. There was some live music going on and a band was doing some semi-awful covers. People were dancing and when I went into the bathroom some girls were helping their incredibly belligerent friend out of the toilet. *le sigh* I must say I liked their outdoor patio, which closed way too quickly! I am just spoiled living in Vegas I guess. Overall this was a fun time.

Wow! I was surprised by the poor service at this restaurant. Not only did we wait a while for someone to come to our table, we waited even longer for our food to arrive. the restaurant had a light crowd during the late afternoon. There was no crowding or long line, so I don't see any excuse for the wait time. However, no complaints on taste of the food; my friend and I split an appetizer, which was tasty. I ordered a mixed drink, as did my friend. The server brought my mixed drink and a shot for my friend. I can understand making a mistake of preparing a shot versus a mixed drink, but I do not understand the server's response in this situation.... When the server saw my friend's face she asked, "oh, did you want me to pour it in a martini glass?".... Please work on your customer service!

What can I say? Compared to the competition, it's just not on the same level that surrounding bars and restaurants are on. I hate to give it only 2 stars, but when you compare it to places on that same street, 2 stars is the best I can do. It's just kind of a no frills, ordinary place that has kind of a local' s feel to it.

We went there for dinner with a party of five. The prime rib special was great. Our group also had tacos and fish & Chips that were good too. The service was excellent.

avoid this place. poor service and questionable food. we had a big party- the place was empty and they couldn't wait to get rid of us. Prime Rib was cold; soup tasted from a can.

I wish I could comment on the food, but can't. We were seated and waited for a waitress to come to our table for about 10 minutes before we left without being contacted by anyone. I am pretty sure she was serving her boyfriend food at the table across the way, but I'm not sure she was supposed to be our waitress. Anyway, we went to Crickets across the street and you should too.

Yes - this is 5 stars... This is a restaurant by day and Bar at night. I go to CDA once or twice a year and I go to the Iron Horse when I want to have a few drinks and have a good time! Saturday nights they have a band playing rock music. Not exactly dance music but CDA locals figure out a way to dance to it!!!! The bartenders are fast and attentive - and they actually say "thanks" when you tip them!!!! The place is packed. The small town vibe is way cool here. Totally non pretentious - just real people having a good time. Friendly people having drinks - the way it is supposed to be!

First off I have worked in restaurants and have family members working in restaurants so I give the benefit of the doubt to theses establishments but something needs to be said about our experience at the Iron Horse. Hopefully they will improve their service offering. We had a group of 8 on a Friday evening. The bar scene outside was bumping but we just wanted something to eat after a long day on the road. They seated us right away (good). Inside there was very few people (they can't claim they were slammed). We ordered our drinks and food and the wait started. After an hour plus we started asking where our food was. They wanted to know if we'd been told service would be slow when we sat down. The answer was no. Anyway apologies abounded and we continued to wait. Finally some in the group start talking about paying for our drinks and leaving. When the wait staff hears this suddenly the food starts coming out. The food was for the most part passable but several issues. The clams I had were cooked well before and put under a heat lamp. They were like rubber. They ran out of french fries (out of fries in Idaho?) so they substituted onion rings with no mention when they served the food. The manager (?) came over and said they would comp a few small items and said she rarely goes into the kitchen. Wouldn't this be one of the manager's responsibilities? They didn't comp items on all bills. The manager told us if we wanted to do more we would need to come back and talk with the owner the next morning. You think this is going to happen? How about having an empowered manager and she handles the feedback issue with the owner? This was mid summer, on a Friday night in a tourist part of town. You'd think they have been on their A game.

Great place to have in town for just a few reasons. It's a good bar for big groups of people. They absolutely promote dancing, and people get down with it here. They're open on holiday's when other places in town are closed. It can get pretty crowded on the weekends, which is when I avoid this place at all costs.

Idaho's number one selling bar in liquor sales and they do it because of a huge following, which includes its employees that come back day in and day out to drink and party with their friends. This bar brings out a big mix of people, from rich to poor , from young to old. Almost every Friday and Saturday night they have a band. Most of them very good. Most play rock and roll. You want to see funny, just come here at night and watch the drunk hippies, bar ho's, bikers, rich tourists, wild tourists, lesbians, and even pro football players dance! Its entertainment 101~ They have outside seating which gets very popular with those that chain smoke. They serve good breakfast meals , decent lunches, and decent dinners. Their steak nights are second to none on price and quality. The employees here are great and make this place. I consider some of them as close friends. They have bouncers hanging around on weekends to keep things in control. This place can get very busy at times especially in the summers and on special dates like Halloween or New Years. They have a fireplace area many hang out around in the winters. They own the parking lot in back as well. Nothing fantasy inside but its fine. They will pretty much make you anything you want to eat! Its not the best place to watch a sporting event, but they do have 3-4 TV'S going. Any event, this place has been here 40+ yrs. Its fun, great to people watch, food not bad, and its in the middle of downtown Coeur d Alene.

Good place for lunch despite everyone's comments about nightlife. Sandwiches were large and yummy. Service was friendly. Nice outdoor tables with good people-watching. No pressure to hurry and leave so we lingered there awhile enjoying the sights. Of course, when you are there during Ironman week there are lots of sights.
